Report #930 from lg3Then-Current Conditions : 31F / -1C, Clear - 11:53 AM CST Feb. 8
1pm: "Lar, you're not a very good navigator"
"well, here we go! nice day out here"
"this spot looks perfect. lets drill some holes."
"one missed flag right away...today's gonna be good"
"maybe they dont start til later"
"well, no one's left this area yet...lets give it another hour"
"hey the guy next to us caught a 14" walleye. they must be starting now"
"everyone's gone but us...more chances for us now"
"drive-by guy says we should have been here yesterday"
"at least its warm out"
"lets go back to the truck to warm up for a bit"
"at least we learned a little about the lake"
"at least the truck didnt go thru the ice"
10pm: "lets go have a beer"
"lets do it again some time...and not get skunked!"
Sounds like a fun time. Even if you did get skunked. A nice day, wetting a line, beer AND your truck not going thru the ice....all sounds pretty darn good to me!

You didn't mention anything about our new friend Steve, I think he swiped my lake maps book !!!
DancesWithWalleyes at 4:15 PM - February 08, 2009
its possible. it has a lot of nice pictures. good ole steve. should have gotten a picture of him...woulda been the best way to tell that story.
lg3 at 4:18 PM - February 08, 2009
ok, ill try Steve's version, censored at least:
"where you boys from?"
"my buddy's auger just blew apart into pieces"
"crazy, man. im right in between you boys! I'm 33 years old."
"this cold front makes fishing tough" (it was feb 7. it was 48 degrees.)
"im an arizona boy. im goin back but im in a relationship so that might cause problems."
"im a jack daniels boy .. if you can't tell"
"i hunt rattlesnakes. my buddy hits em in the head with a railroad tie in the desert"
"we have big cockroaches. we call em 747s. tell your wife"
and the kicker:
"i can't wait til after 9. the walleye dont ever start here until 9."
steve and his buddy drove off the ice at 8. actually, i hope it was just his buddy driving.

I was hoping I left it in your shanty/sled. I knew was missing something when you left last night. I just thought it was the 5 gallon bucket.
DancesWithWalleyes at 4:46 PM - February 08, 2009
Like I said, I don't know enough about the lake to do well. Steve's version is more like what I'm used to out there. If its slow, its not so much fishing as back to drinking in the cooler. Too bad you didn't have more luck.
Trav at 4:49 PM - February 08, 2009
i got it, d-dub, just unloaded the truck. mail it to ya? Trav, not "too bad" at all. we did have fun, like Ellie said. and your tips put us on "likely" spots from what we heard/saw. spent the day up by that Devils Island you mentioned. thanks again.
lg3 at 4:57 PM - February 08, 2009
Keep it for now, I'll probably see ya in a few weeks for another exciting outing as long as the weather is decent.
DancesWithWalleyes at 5:00 PM - February 08, 2009
p.s. i also have your gloves. maxx has mine. maybe you can get a pair of maxx's and we'll all be good.
lg3 at 5:12 PM - February 08, 2009
Dang, those are my work gloves. Now my hands are going to freeze.
DancesWithWalleyes at 5:36 PM - February 08, 2009
